TABLE TENNIS CLUB RULES
1) Open Play Fee. (FRIDAYS) The open play fee is $6.00 and paid at the front table. 2) Choosing a table to play and waiting for a match.a. When there are open tables you may pick any table, including a table where someone is already waiting. The club follows a ‘first come first serve’ rule and players are not allowed to reserve a spot for someone else. b. If all tables are taken, you have to wait for your turn by leaving a paddle/case at the desired table (on the floor, right below the net post). c. The waiting order is established by the order in which the paddles were placed at the table and not by oral agreements. d. No player may wait on two tables simultaneously. No player may wait on a table and play a match simultaneously. On days with free tables a player is allowed to wait on one table and warm up on another. A waiting player (X) may however choose to skip his turn and still stay on the line. In such case the player after him (nobody else) can play, and X will be next to play.2) Match Format. A Match shall be best 3 games out of 5. Each will be 11-point games. 4) Taking Turns. The Match Winner has the right to stay on the table for another match. That right is nontransferable. The player who lost the match is to always leave the table, unless there is no one waiting. He does not get to stay on the table if the match winner leaves; in those cases the next two waiting players get the table. * On particularly busy days and only after explicit announcement by the club manager, the winning player shall be allowed to stay no more than 2 matches on the table. 5) Practice. If two players get the right to play a match according to these rules, they can choose to practice instead. They may keep the table for 20 minutes after the usual warm up. After the 20 minutes either practicing player can stay at the table. 6) Warm Up. When people are waiting at the table, the players are expected to warm up only a few minutes, but no more than 5 minutes before start the match.1. Basic Club Playing Format: We play a “table challenge protocol”. This is where you play in at any table you wish, by asking to play the winner. The winner of the match in progress is allowed to remain at the table (or may choose to allow the loser to stay). If the players are just doing drills or practice, then they are allowed 10 minutes to continue before one should step down to allow the challenger toplay. This protocol ensures that: everyone gets table access, can play a variety of different people and skill levels, and promotes building friendships. (Generally matches are best 3 of 5 games to 11.)Respect church property - Do Not Sit On Equipment Tables.Unsolicited criticism, disruptive behavior, or poor sportsmanship, will not be tolerated. No smoking or drinking of alcoholic beverages.TABLE TENNIS ETIQUETTEDo not walk behind another game while their point is in progress to retrieve a ball. Other tables will get it for you when they have finished their point.Do not call a “Let” for another table while their point is in progressIt is the server’s responsibility to call the score before serving. Doing so avoids misunderstandings. The server’s score is said first to avoid confusion.Help in setting up and taking down equipment and cleaning up the area is greatly appreciated. Please throw away your own bottles and trash, and clean up any spills. If practicing instead of playing a match, the time limit is 30 minutes (including warm-up time). Then both players leave the table. Playing rotation is determined by simply waiting at or reserving (or “challenging”) one of the tables. If another ball enters your court area, stop play, call a “let”, and return the ball. All players shall conduct themselves with good sportsmanship, respect and courtesy to others. Loud, profane or offensive language will not be tolerated. Playing facility rules will be enforced, such as only non-marking shoes allowed. Drinking and eating are discouraged on the playing area at any time, but if you do drink or eat you shall clean up and make sure there is no spillage or waste left. Smoking, alcohol, gambling, or weapons are not allowed.
